PS-3300, SGX-2 and Trinity plugins launched
Another year, another KORG Collection launch! I’ve lost track of how long we’ve been working on the new KORG PS-3300 and SGX-2 plugins. So it’s exciting to finally see them launch! These are part of the new version 6 update to the KORG Collection.
The PS-3300 is a faithful recreation of one of the earliest polyphonic synthesizers, first launched in 1977. It’s an unusual and quirky beast – we often commented during the plugin development that it seems to be from an era during which the early KORG engineers were still trying to figure out what synthesizers should be. More recently, KORG launched a new PS-3300 hardware reissue, for over $10,000. And now here it is, faithfully recreated as plugin within reach of anyone with a Mac or PC.
The SGX-2 is an update on the premium piano engine from the KRONOS synthesizer, now in plugin form. I was heavily involved in many aspects of the KRONOS development, including all of its 9 synthesis engines. It’s exciting to see the SGX piano become more broadly available!
The Korg Collection 6 update also includes a faithful recreation of the venerable Trinity synthesizer from 1995. These 3 new plugins add to an impressive roster of other plugins, including the ARP 2600, EP-1 and VOX Super Continental that I worked on last year.
You can download demos of all these plugins from KORG Software Pass, and try them out. Can’t wait to see what new music people will make with these!
