Heh, typical Steinberg, what is the frigging point of releasing it on Monday now!just so it can coincide with Nuendo too... they have already let the genie out.

EDIT: LOL now the cubase.net forums are currently unavailable... probably to hide from the flames that will come from this fiasco

Well the update is finally here.

Unfortunaly it remains upto Sonic Core to fix the ASIO bug as Steinberg blames the drivers and not the software.

should I say: As expected ?

Hre is the verdion history and the type and number of fixes tells a story on its own.

Is anyone using the 64 bit version? Is there an advantage?

Cubase 4.1.2 UPDATE

I installed it and it works for me as did the previous version. Whoever says it doesn't work with the Sonic Core cards should qualify that. It might be really difficult for Sonic Core to fix if they can not recreate the problem. If one of you would be nice enough to ship your computer to Sonic Core, I am sure they could fix it. It would also give you and Sonic Core major bonus points. They ought to give you some free plugins for that.

As I understand it the problem occurs when you load a project that runs in a different samplerate than 44.1 Khz. If your projects are always working with this samplerate, that might explain why you are not experiencing any problems?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thomas

I just tested it and you are right. It's not so bad if you can still use it at 44.1 though but I wish that Sonic Core would say something about it like they are aware of it and they are working on it.

I don't remember where I read it (prolly here on planetZ somewhere), but SonicCore are pointing their fingers at Steinberg saying that they are the cause of the problem. And Steinberg on the other hand are pointing at SonicCore saying that it is their drivers that needs to be "fixed" or updated, referring to the age of the current SonicCore drivers.

One curious thing though is that it is not only Scope-users who are experiencing these problems, all other kinds of brands of audio cards are having trouble as well which points to Steinberg to be the cause of these problems if you ask me.

Hopefully the upcomming new drivers will solve this problem - regardless of who's fault it is my guess is that it is SonicCore who has to reach for their angles, since they can't sell a product with no Cubase support.

Dear Friends,

regardless of "who's right and who's wrong" between Steinb and Sonicc the reality says that us (the customers!!) have problems and are unsatisfied, wasting time around tech probles that other should satisfy, delivering full effective goods (!!)

I just can say I love SCOPE (I own JUST 5 boards, enough??) BUT it is unacceptable the drivers are not refreshed since years while PC technology and related applications continuosly are developed;
this at least in my ONEST point of view.

I just hope SCOPE 5 to be released VERY SOON (upon an announcement occurred around 1,5 months ago........why still not available??) so after a full test we could FREELY DECIDE if to abandone CUBASE, SCOPE or both (or keeping all of them);
a modern PC is even not a far "cousin" of the one produced at the time of platform 4.5.

I do understand the passage of company between Creamware and Soniccore, but, nowaday, it is an story more than one year long;
now I clearly expect to test an updated product, without waiting any longer

I wanna underline, I am not a "pirate", I only buy ORIGINAL software or hardware paying them the required price, I am in the position to pretend a final result or in alternative, to express my concerns or disappointment.

Because I like Creamware (SONICCORE) products, as an afictioned customer I DO RECOMEND Soniccore peple to strichtly stay around software development , like others do more frequently.

Additional aspect, we are discussing of two PRIMARY MANUFACTURER of sowtware and hardware, thay should anytime deliver compatible products (one each other) without relying in the infinite patience of the user/customers that PAYS, TO REPORT THEM BUGS DAY BY DAY!! ;
I would accept the risk of wasting time around if I would had choosed secondary pr cracked produtct, not in our cas we're discussing about.

I hope this clear and open statement would clarify the point of view of a CUSTOMER and helps, finally, in let move something.

Replies are really welcome

Emilio Biagini

Hi Emilio,

We all are eagerly awaiting for SCOPE 5 and I can understand your rants but:
- Sonicore is not liable to creamware. They don't have sold you yours boards (from a legal point of view). If I am correct, the marketing manager from creamware is now in charge of InDSP.
- If Cubase 4.0 was working with your boards at the time of your Purchase / upgrade decision, Steinberg is responsible for your current situation.

Personnaly, I was totally upset by steinberg when steinberg decided to stop maintaining SX. And I am totally upset because they have also stopped maintaining my Xphraze, Hypersonic, The grand, ... I will not be able to upgrade my system anymore!

From what I read on the Cubase upgrade information document, it remains some "heavy" discrepancies in cubase 4 code, and I am not confident they will solves them in their current version.

Currently, because I stood on SX after steinberg unprofessional behaviour, my system is working. So If you really need your system, the best workaround is to go back to SX and let it kow on Cubase.net as I think it is the right place for these rants.

Let's hope, Sonicore new system will circonvent all this, but frankly, I am not convinced they can do anything to Cubase bugs!

cheers

Michel
